Annatto E and How it Will Help You This Winter

Have you heard of Annatto E? Well if you’ve heard of Vitamin E, you’re pretty close to it. Annatto E has a multitude of benefits including antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.

Annatto is a type of food coloring made from the seeds of the achiote tree, a plant native to South and Central America. Other names for it include achiote, achiotillo, bija, urucum, and atsuete. There are eight compounds within two families of vitamin E: tocopherols and tocotrienols. Both forms of Vitamin E can be found in foods such as whole grains, such as wheat (especially wheat germ), rice, barley, oats and corn, select leafy green vegetables, nuts (such as almonds, peanuts, and hazelnuts), seeds (such as sunflower seeds), green leafy vegetables (such as spinach and broccoli), and palm fruit.

Most of these foods, however, are higher in Tocopherol E rather than Tocotrienol E.

The richest known source of naturally occurring Tocotrienols is found in Annatto, which is  virtually free of Tocopherols and contains nearly 100% Tocotrienol E.

Annatto-E is a tocopherol-free, tocotrienols-only extract used in a variety of ways to provide unique benefits. Its bright red-orange color comes from compounds called carotenoids, which are pigments that are found in the seed’s outer layer and many other fruits and vegetables, such as carrots and tomatoes. It’s uses range from improved brain health and functionality, anticancer activity, improved skin health, and lower degrees of inflammation. Users have also taken Annatto E for diabetes, diarrhea, fevers, fluid retention, heartburn, and have used it as an antioxidant and bowel cleanser. Apart from its medicinal properties, it is a great addition to
